Which identity documents are accepted by HERO?

In accordance with the French Monetary and Financial Code, HERO must verify the authenticity of your identity document and the information it contains.
These checks are essential to fight fraud, money laundering, and the financing of terrorism.

💡 To be accepted, your document must be in color, clear, complete, unobstructed, valid, and include a MRZ (machine-readable zone).

The validity period is based on the expiration date stated on the document.
Only French ID cards issued before 2014 to adults are eligible for a 5-year extension.

✅ Accepted identity documents by HERO:

• National ID cards and passports from:
  France 🇫🇷, EU 🇪🇺, EFTA countries, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, and the Vatican

• French residence permit

❌ Identity documents not accepted by HERO:

• Visas, residence permits, and ID cards issued by a foreign country 🌍

• Italian ID cards with the phrase “non valida per l’espatrio” 🇮🇹

• Receipts for lost/stolen documents, duplicate requests, or prefecture appointments for any identity document
